Crossing the Border on a Niagara Tour: What to Bring, What to Expect

Passports, eTA, NEXUS, and how to avoid the two-hour Rainbow Bridge wait.

Most of our Niagara Falls tours stay on the Canadian side, no border crossing required. If you want to see the American Falls from above, the Rainbow Bridge pedestrian crossing takes 20–60 minutes round-trip depending on the day.

You must bring your passport. US citizens technically can use an enhanced driver's licence; everyone else needs a passport plus, if applicable, an ESTA (for the US) or eTA (for Canada).

The Rainbow Bridge is the closest crossing to the falls. The Queenston-Lewiston Bridge is faster on busy days but adds a 15-minute drive. NEXUS holders save serious time on both.

If border timing matters — cruise ship, flight, hard schedule — book a private tour and let the guide check live wait times before committing to a side.
